Topic: PFO/ASD: What's the difference?

Objectives:

  • Understand embryology of atrial septum and how ASD and PFO differ and how they develop in utero Learn the options for DAPT in ACS patients

  • Management of PFO in association with embolic TIA/stroke. Discussion of the RESPECT trial and its aftermath and long term follow up, focusing on the FDA panels' recent approval of the PFO closure device and the reasons for its approval
  • Schematic and /or cineographic demonstration of ASD/PFO percutaneous closure. Focus on which defects are best managed with surgical repair
